RATAGAN 2008
On Monday 15 September Primary 6 pupils from Abernethy and Deshar travelled to Ratagan on the shore of Loch Duich for a 4 day residential visit.
The group visited the Glenelg brochs, Kylerhea Otter Haven, Eilean Donan Castle, Kintail Mountain Rescue Base, Plockton for a trip on Calum's Seal Boat and a trip on the Probe Atlantis glass bottomed boat at Kyle of Lochalsh.

Stuart Ibbertson:
Swimming was fun. In the boat I saw a seal. I enjoyed today’s sandwich which had lettuce, tomato, cucumber and pineapple. It is nice to be at the sea.
Hamish Smith:
I learnt that there are things called brochs. I really liked the swimming, I really enjoyed the rescue demonstration.
Alice Towers:
I liked the Seal trip because it was interesting. The best thing in Ratagan was being with all my friends. The worst thing was when I was homesick.
Sarah Laing:
I really enjoyed buying my seal and the best thing was being with my friends. The worst thing was NOTHING!
Beth Rutledge:
I liked seeing the seals because I thought that they were cute. The best thing about Ratagan was having fun.
Erin Mosdell:
I saw 4 otters and a seal. If you get too loud you will scare them. We went swimming and I poured water over Mr Edge’s head. We went on a boat and I felt sick and we saw a ship wreck.
Freyja Dorren:
I liked seeing the otters because I always like seeing that there are some places that aren’t polluted and I thought that it was fun seeing all the whirl pools.
Ellie Clark:
I loved the swimming pool and I liked it when we were in the bus looking out the window at the massive mountains. The best thing about Ratagan was the glass bottom boat.

I really liked the swimming and seeing the ship wreck. I really liked Eilean Donan Castle because it was a castle and you got to see around it.

I like the see through boat it was so cool. I learnt that if you are in an avalanche you can get a dog to find you. The best thing was being in the dormitory

I liked Eilean Donan Castle because it was fun and interesting. I enjoyed the seal trip.

I liked going to Skye and seeing the otters. I liked swimming with my friends and throwing balls to each other. It was fun seeing the shipwreck and the animals like the sea urchin, star fish, jelly fish and the crab.
Elspeth Moncrieff:
Tuesday the otter haven was good because we saw otters and one seal. This man let me look through his telescope and I saw a clear otter head. And I loved the swimming because we went crazy.
Jordan Gilbert:
On Monday I thought dinner was tasty. We are beside the loch and can see the 5 Sisters of Kintail. I think the best thing was going on Calum’s seal boat because we all got to drive the boat. The best thing about Ratagan was cooking.
Rachel Crane:
I enjoyed Calum’s Seal boat trip because I have never been so close to a seal! The best thing about Ratagan was the glass bottom boat because it was so Cool!
