Puggy Line Leaflet February 2008

Some of our P7 pupils with their newly completed Puggy Line leaflet. This leaflet is a guide for one of Explore Abernethy's trails. The pupils did a lot of research on water voles as the project focused on water vole conservation.
The crested tit appears on our school badge. To find out more about the crested tit click here
The school is set in woodland, on the edge of the RSPB Abernethy Forest Nature Reserve.
We have excellent playing fields that attract a wide range of wildlife. The school has set aside an area dedicated to wildlife, that includes a pond. The school has erected a number of bird boxes and to date the following birds have nested in the grounds:
blue tit, great tit, house martin, swallow, starling, jackdaw, song thrush and tawny owl.
Blue tits occupied the birdcam box again this June. Eight eggs were laid and six hatched. Over a weekend five of the chicks vanished from the box. They had not fully fledged. The sixth chick died in the nest.
